TL-1
Engineered for atmosphere
Introducing the TL-1 table lamp, the first
expression of Juba. Hand-formed cellulose
acetate sits alongside machined aluminum
and a cast stone base. Made from plant-based
fibres and formed through a highly manual
process, the reflector reveals natural depth
and variation that cannot be repeated.
Explore TL-1
When lit, TL-1 works as an indirect, reflected
light source, delivering a soft, low-glare wash.
The reflector’s layers come forward in subtle
gradients, giving the light a sense of depth.
Conceived to be seen from every angle, it
offers two readings: a more luminous face
from the front, and, from behind, a quieter
silhouette where light passes through the
translucent acetate and leaves a faint halo on the surface beyond.

Juba is a design studio based in Montreal, led
by Nick Trudel. It approaches industrial design
as a craft practice, combining exacting
construction with expressive materials.
Grounded in material study and careful
making, the work is shaped by the subtle
emotional registers that light can hold. Made
through manual craft and contemporary
production, each object is calm, precise, and
considered.
